Ayurveda is an art of living. It is regarded as a way of life, focus on living the life at its best, with full vitality. Adhering to the principles of Ayurveda provides us good health, vitality and longevity.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle tips – Dhinacharya

Dhinacharya means daily moving or daily routine. The ayurvedic way of life recommends has a set of routines to follow. The routines aim at harmonizing with the natural cycle of the body and the environment. Each dosha dominate specific periods every day. Ayurveda recommends activities that pacifies / balances the respective dosha.

Ayurvedic lifestyle tips on Dhinacharya includes,

  • Waking with the sun
  • Drinking two glasses of warm water – helps in removal of toxins in the body
  • Washing eye, brushing teeth and scraping tongue
  • Simple exercises like walking, meditation or pranayama
  • Bath in warm water
  • Drink herbal liquids
  • Sundown – A time to relax in the evening
  • Sleep – 7 – 8 hours

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tips – Ritucharya

RituCharya means Seasonal Moves. Changes in the season and climate conditions influence the life and health. Ritucharya means balancing with the nature. It is not recommended to go against nature. Creating a balance to cope with every season simply eliminate the risk of falling sick. There are six seasons according to Ayurveda. The ayurvedic lifestyle tips in Ritucharya is nothing but eating the right food and following the right lifestyle regimen.

The six seasons and their characteristics:

  1. Sisira – Mid of January to Mid of March – Extreme winter – Cold, dewy, foggy
  2. Vasanta – Mid of March to Mid of May – spring and summer – neither too hot nor to cold
  3. Greeshma – Mid of May to Mid of July –summer – hot, dry
  4. Varsha – Mid of July to Mid of September – rainy – cloudy, unfriendly
  5. Sharat – Mid of September to Mid of November – autumn – dry and damp
  6. Hemanta – Mid of November to Mid of January – winter – windy, mild cold

Ayurvedic Way of Eating – Ayurvedic Lifestyle tips

Food is the driving force that has a great impact in the vitality. Too much eating or too little eating disturbs the body. Ayurveda lifestyle tips recommend eating the foods with Prana, called Life. It means eating vegetarian diet made from fresh vegetables and fruits. Foods with Prana not just taste delicious but also nourish the body.

Ayurvedic lifestyle tips on eating includes,

  • Eating right for the constitution of the body– it aids in physical and emotional stability
  • Fully cooked fresh foods made of fresh produce are greatly recommended by ayurveda.
  • Including all the six tastes in the meal – Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Salty, Astringent and Pungent
  • 2:3:1 this is the ideal ratio of the quantity of foods we should eat. Ayurveda recommends eating moderate amount of foods for breakfast, eating luxuriously and a heavy meal for lunch and lighter meal for dinner.

Ayurveda restricts eating only freshly cooked meals. There is no room to re-cook or re-heat a food or use the packaged or canned food in the diet. The food is the medicine.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tips – Oil Massage

Oil massage has a great importance in ayurvedic context. It is recommended every day to stimulate the nerves, soothes the muscles and lubricates the body. Besides, oil massage with herbal concoctions carries medicinal power to cure many ailments.  In ayurvedic context, skin gets thirst and it needed hydration. Massaging the body make your skin glow. Ayurvedic lifestyle tips focus on the head oil massage twice a week to eliminate the heat, pitta dosha from body.

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tips – Sadhanas / Meditation

Sadhanas means reciting mantras, which is another form of meditation. Meditating means rejuvenating and cleansing the mind and soul. It relaxes the body, keep your nerves calm and helps you maintain a stability in the body.
